On December 4th, our Reef Rangers proudly represented ReefoDivers Diani during a fishing competition held at Moana University in Diani. The event was organized by Kwale Fisheries and attended by many key officials and stakeholders from the marine sector.

Our Reef Rangers set up an educational information stand to showcase our coral reef restoration project. Their exhibition included:

  • A laptop presentation with videos of our underwater work

  • Flyers explaining our coral gardening and diving activities

  • Two large information banners with visuals and photographs

  • Two coral nursery structures on display with colorful corals

  • A full set of scuba diving equipment for demonstration purposes

Their goal was to create awareness about coral conservation, explain the restoration process, and highlight how community-driven efforts can protect and revive degraded reefs. Many visitors, including officials and local fishermen, stopped by to learn more, and their feedback was overwhelmingly positive. The Mwakamba BMU chairman personally congratulated the team, praising them for the excellent work they did throughout the event. According to him, the Reef Rangers demonstrated great knowledge and professionalism, especially while engaging with the Director of the Kenya Maritime Authority, who was one of the main stakeholders present.

This event gave the team a valuable platform to connect with new partners, exchange ideas, and strengthen the relationship between the conservation and fisheries sector. We are proud of how confidently and passionately our Reef Rangers represented our work. A big thank you to the Kwale Fisheries officer for organizing the event, and to everyone who showed interest in coral restoration. Our team continues to grow—not only in skills, but also in impact.
