Certified PADI Coral Reef Restoration Divers and PADI Rescue Divers

October has been an exciting month for our team at ReefoDivers Diani. Three of our Reef Rangers, already certified as PADI Advanced Open Water Divers and PADI Coral Reef Restoration Divers, have now achieved the PADI Rescue Diver certification. Their training took place at Scuba Duka in Diani, where they learned how to prevent and manage diving-related emergencies, assist fellow divers in distress, and respond calmly and effectively under pressure. In addition, they completed an SSI First Aid, AED, and Oxygen Provider course at Ocean Tribe Diani, further strengthening their ability to respond to incidents. These safety skills are essential for our reef restoration work, where dives are frequent and teamwork is critical.

Meanwhile, three of our trainees have successfully completed their PADI Open Water Diver course and earned their PADI Coral Reef Restoration Diver Distinctive Specialty certification. Through this course, they learned the full process of coral gardening; from fragment collection and nursery maintenance to coral outplanting and monitoring. With these achievements, our team is now stronger, safer, and better prepared than ever to restore coral reefs in the Diani-Chale National Marine Reserve. Every new certification represents not only individual progress but also a step forward for our community-driven conservation mission: empowering the local community to protect the reef that sustains marine life along Diani Beach.
