We’re excited to share an important step forward in our 2025 Reef Ranger traineeship program. Three out of five trainees have now successfully completed their swimming and snorkeling training and have moved on to the last phase: becoming PADI Open Water Divers. In this stage, they are focusing on diving safety through e-learning, and practical pool session. Very soon, they will take their first Exploration Dive at our Swahili Nurseries, where they’ll experience firsthand the vibrant marine life and the restoration work being carried out beneath the waves.

If they feel confident and comfortable in the water, the trainees will then progress to the PADI Coral Reef Restoration Diver specialty course—a distinctive diving program exclusively offered at ReefoDivers Diani. This training will prepare them with the specialized skills needed to restore corals, care for our nurseries, and outplant coral back to the reef. Once certified, they will become eligible to join the Reef Ranger team permanently, turning their training into action by helping to save and restore the coral reefs at Diani Beach. We wish them good fun and luck!
