Imagine being able to explore the vibrant underwater world of coral reefs without even getting wet! In a remarkable educational initiative, grade 4 pupils in Mombasa were treated to an extraordinary experience. Thanks to an innovative program organized by Alliance Française de Mombasa (AFM) and Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI), students embarked on a virtual dive to witness the captivating process of coral reef restoration. Developed by Reefolution Kenya, this immersive adventure opened their eyes to the importance of preserving and restoring our precious marine ecosystems.
On June 7th, a group of enthusiastic 7-11 year old pupils gathered at KMFRI in Mombasa for an extraordinary journey. Equipped with VR-headsets, they were ready to embark on a virtual dive into the mesmerizing world beneath the waves. Under the guidance of marine experts, the young explorers virtually descended into the depths of the ocean, where they discovered the process of coral reef restoration. Through the magic of virtual reality, they observed firsthand the efforts taken to rehabilitate damaged coral reefs and ensure their survival for future generations. By immersing themselves in this virtual dive, the grade 4 pupils experienced a connection and appreciation for the marine world. They witnessed the delicate balance of coral reef ecosystems and learned about the significance of protecting and saving them.
